Minor fire damage at Batavia Domino's

Batavia fire officials are investigating the cause of an early morning fire in a garbage receptacle outside a Domino's Pizza in Batavia that started the side of the building and roof on fire.

Fire was contained to the exterior of the restaurant at 127 State St. Firetrucks arrived at 1:58 a.m. and the fire was out 14 minutes later, according to a news release from Battalion Chief Randy Zies.

When crews arrived they found a large metal garbage receptacle next to the east side of the building on fire and the fire had spread to the side of the wood-shingled siding and onto the roof. They doused the fire and checked for damage inside. There was none.

Damage, Zies said, amounted to about $10,000.

There were no injuries.
