Decorate a chair contest

All chairs for the fourth annual "Decorate a Chair" competition, sponsored by the Arlington Heights Arts Commission, should be brought to Recreation Park, 500 E. Miner St. in Arlington Heights between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday, July 5, with judging occurring from 2-3 p.m.

Awards will be based on artistic impression, originality, quality and aesthetic appeal. First and second prizes of $25 and $10 gift cards will be awarded in these categories: adult, youth, child, family and friends (people working together on a chair), and businesses and organizations.

There will also be a People's Choice Award based on public vote from 2-2:45 p.m. The award ceremony is at 3 p.m. Application forms will be available at the event. Chairs of any size or material will be accepted. There is no limit on number of entries. Those who arrive before 12:15 p.m. should be aware of parade traffic on Miner Street.
