Palatine Twp. gives to WINGS
The Palatine Township board approved donating $5,000 to WINGS following the June 18 fire that destroyed the nonprofit organization's resale shop on Northwest Highway.
WINGS, or Women in Need Growing Stronger, provides housing and support services to domestic violence victims and their families. Assessor Terry Kelly said he recommended that the township immediately disburse the $5,000 from its community initiative fund. WINGS has opened a temporary collection site at a warehouse at 345 Eric Drive in Palatine.
The Palatine shop grossed an average of $1,500 per day. To donate, go to wingsprogram.com.
