Your choice: Blackhawks, champs or chumps

What a pleasure to watch the Chicago Blackhawks march through the playoffs to the Stanley Cup championship. I will admit that I followed the team closely in the late 1950s and 1960s but have not followed them at all once Bill Wirtz took over the team and became the worst owner in professional sports.

However, the talent and passion of this team was undeniable, and the management organization that put this young team together, after so many years of neglect by the previous owner, needs to be applauded. Plus, as the Channel 5 reporter, Peggy Kusinski stated, "The great thing about these guys is that they are so down to earth, so humble, such nice guys with such nice families." I can happily say that once again, I am a Blackhawk fan after 40 years of not following the team at all.

On the other hand, you have the Chicago Cubs, who have not won a championship in 100-plus years. With the current collection of overpaid underachievers who can't hit with men on base, play poor fundamental baseball, and are the dumbest team, baseball wise, that I have ever seen, it may be another 100 years before they win a World Series. Even the White Sox can figure out how to win a championship every 90 or so years.

A true case of Champs and Chumps in Chicago.
