Angered by mayor's persecution of Stone
After watching the tapes of the Buffalo Grove board of trustees the last few weeks it is easy to see why Mayor Hartstein was so overwhelmingly defeated - I think it was a 2 to 1 loss - in his bid to represent the 59th district in the Illinois House.
The people of the 59th District must be watching his dictatorial manipulation of that board, and, especially, his brutal, unrelenting persecution of Trustee Lisa Stone.
No one can disagree with the imperious Hartstein or with the majority of the trustees who toady to his tyranny. In no way can Stone pose a question, register a complaint or simply ask for an explanation if this "Special Use Zoning" mayor - the one that represented the used-car lot guy on Dundee Road against the zoning laws of his own Village - doesn't want to hear it, doesn't want to allow it.
His verbal abuse of this elected trustee, elected by the people, is tyrannical and frightening, self-serving beyond any concept of democratic management of an elective process.
From her questioning of the odorous composting on land intended for annexation by Buffalo Grove (I wonder whose law office will handle that legality); or the propriety of approving more than $15,000 on a village expense without Board approval; or hiring a lawyer from the "good old boy" network - lawyer Raysa's one-name recommendation; to any comment or question she may raise, the prejudiced response from the mayor or the board is negative, a prime example of political assassination.
As to "recall," the ones who should be recalled are - first and foremost - the mayor, Hartstein, and then the lawyers, who support and introduce more criticisms.
