Help homeless studentsWalmart in Algonquin is holding a fundraiser for students in Community Unit District 300 who are homeless or facing financial difficulty. The district is seeking backpacks; folders; notebooks; loose leaf, wide-ruled paper; pencils; black pens; scissors; glue sticks; rulers and crayons. The items will be collected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 17, at Walmart, 1410 Randall Road, Algonquin. The district's goal is to fill a school bus with supplies for the neediest students. Call (847) 551-8307.McHenry residents surveyedMcHenry County organizations representing health care, education, social services and other aspects of the county are asking residents to return surveys on the quality of life in the county. The surveys, which were mailed to 8,000 randomly chosen residents, will be used for community planning. The survey is titled "Working together for a healthier McHenry County."
