Famous athletes join Hoffman golf outing

The Hoffman Estates Park District's annual golf outing continues to grow.

Circle your calendars for Tuesday, July 14 for the 11th Communi-Tee and Celebrit-Tee Golf Outing at Poplar Creek Country Club.

Last year's outing featured former Chicago Cub Gene Hiser, a member of the park district's board of trustees.

This year's event will feature ex-Cubs Bill Campbell and Paul Popovich and former White Sox players Billy Pierce and Eric Soderholm.

Bob Avellini and Bob Parsons will represent the Bears alumni. Former NBC5 sportscaster and Score radio host Tom Shaer will emcee.

Four golfers will win a chance for $50,000 courtesy of Jet Blue, if one hits a hole in one.

Registration is $125 per golfer, which includes a cocktail hour and all meals. The deadline is July 10.
