Donate school supplies in Palatine Twp.

Palatine Township has kicked off its Apple Tree Campaign, an award-winning back-to-school program now in its 22nd year.

New backpacks and school supplies are collected and distributed to underprivileged children referred to the township by local social workers. Last year, Palatine Township assisted 1,300 students.

Supplies will be distributed during the week of Aug. 9. Monetary donations are also welcome so that the township can make bulk purchases. Volunteers are wanted. For a list of needed items and drop-off locations, go to palatinetownship.com or call Christine Favia at (847) 358-6700, ext. 6161.
