Palatine Jaycees recruiting Hometown Fest volunteers

The Palatine Jaycees are looking for residents who want to participate in this year's July Fourth celebration, Hometown Fest, July 1-5 at Community Park on Palatine Road and Northwest Highway.

"This is a community event and we want everyone to come out get involved with Hometown Fest," said Jennifer Iannuzzelli, festival co-chair.

The opening event on Thursday, July 1, for this year's Hometown Fest is the annual Special Needs Carnival. Individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities and their immediate families are invited from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. They should be at the carnival at 2:15 p.m. to register.

Booths are still available for the Arts and Crafts Fair/Business and Charity Expo on Friday, July 2, and Saturday, July 3. An Arts & Craft booth will cost $60 for both days, while Business Expo booths are $150. Charity Expo booths are free. Applications for at www.palatinejaycees.org/fourthofjuly.

The Jaycees will once again be selling Mega Passes that are good for all rides at any time that the carnival is in operation. The passes are $60 and can be bought at the Park District Building, 200 E. Wood St., today through 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 26, from 100 AM to 11 a.m. Passes will be available at the fest for $70.

"One of the highlights of each year's Hometown Fest is the fireworks display which will be held on Sunday, July Fourth," said Monica Haun, co-chair of the festival. "If you would like to help with this year's show, you can look for volunteer Jaycees wearing blue and white vests around the Fest collecting donations or you can simply send a check payable to the Palatine Jaycees to P.O. Box 1517, Palatine, IL 60067-1517.
