Let's learn rules of the road
A quick question for drivers, police, school administrators and parents:
Has anyone paid any attention to the mature high school "children" when they cross McLean Boulevard or Larkin Avenue when Larkin High School lets out? I try to avoid the area during school discharge hour strictly because the parents of these "children" have never taught them how to cross a street.
I have seen them just walk right into moving traffic and expect every driver to know that they are crossing. I have seen them at the corner of Larkin and McLean and step into moving traffic when the traffic has a green light. It's almost like they are daring you to hit them.
To the parents, take some time to teach these "children" how to cross streets. To the Elgin police and school officials, how about crossing guards to direct these "children" before one of them ends up getting killed? Are you all the adults or do the "children" rule the grown-ups? Mike Piche
