Montini names Martinez varsity wrestling coach

Montini Catholic High School named Israel Martinez as the new varsity wrestling coach. He replaces longtime coach Mike Bukovsky.

St. Francis seeks soccer coaches: St. Francis High School in Wheaton is looking for a varsity boys soccer coach and a varsity girls soccer coach. Interested applicants should e-mail their resumes to athletic director Paul Linden at plinden@sfhsnet.org.

Three named all-state academic: Wheaton Warrenville South's Jill Langlas, Naperville North's Rycke Guiney and Maria Klingelhoffer and Heather Wesseln of Willowbrook were named to the Chicago Red Stars all-state academic team.

Wheaton North summer tennis camp: Students entering grades 1-12 can attend the Wheaton North High School summer tennis camp, held from June 21 through July 23 at the school in Wheaton.

Basketball camp at West Aurora: Hoop Mountain Basketball Midwest, an instructional camp for middle school and high school players, will be holding its annual summer shootout this weekend at West Aurora High School.

Among the 40 participating varsity boys basketball programs, there will be geographical representation from throughout Illinois as well as select programs from Iowa and Nebraska.

There will also be an underclass tournament featuring 20 sophomore teams.

Pool play begins at 9 a.m. Friday; there will be four teams in each pool, with preliminary play concluding later that afternoon. Bracket play will commence Saturday morning, and the championship game will take place at 5 p.m.

Bulls Training Academy overnight camp: The Chicago Bulls/Chicago White Sox Training Academy will hold an overnight basketball camp June 17-20 at Benedictine Academy in Lisle.

Boys and girls in the fifth through 12th grades will spend four days and three nights in morning sessions of skill development, followed by afternoon sessions in team play. All campers will sleep in supervised dorms and will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

The cost is $425 per athlete, and each camper will receive a camp jersey, basketball and gym bag. Check-in is at 2 p.m. June 17. Early registration is highly recommended.

Timothy Christian High School coaching positions: Timothy Christian in Lombard is seeking qualified, Christian applicants for coaching positions in three spring sports.

The school is seeking a varsity softball head coach; a boys tennis frosh/soph head coach; and a girls soccer assistant coach.

Wheaton North boys golf camp: All golfers in grades 5-12 are invited to attend the third annual Future Pars golf camp at Prairie Landing G.C., July 19-21.

The camp is run by the Wheaton North High Cchool golf coaches and PGA teaching pro Brian King.

The cost is $115 per camper; registration is through the Wheaton North High School website.

Bears summer camps: The Bears are offering 24 non-contact football camps this summer throughout the Chicago area. These week-long camps are for childrens ages 6-14.

The camps are led by professional educators, with supplemental instruction from former Bears players Wendell Davis, Robin Earl, Allan Ellis, Kris Haines, Jim Morrissey, Revie Sorey and others.

Camp cost is $385 per child, with "early-bird" discounts available.

Western suburban camp sites include Naperville (June 28-July 2, July 12-16), Oak Brook (June 28-July 2), Geneva (July 12-16), Elmhurst (July 19-23) and Downers Grove (July 26-30).

De La Salle summer basketball league: De La Salle Institute will hold a summer boys basketball league from June 9 through July 1 at its Palmer Activity Center at 35th Street and Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
