Teenage mistake could be very costly

Erin Hughes committed a crime. In a teenage moment, she panicked and left the scene of an accident that left fellow classmate Sarah Goone in the hospital. Shortly after she was arrested, and admitted the whole mistake-filled series of events. But overzealous prosecutors are now going for the throat, charging her with DUI because she had smoked pot the night before. A couple of hits off a joint leaves you high for a few hours, but the residue stays in your system for days. She was not high when she hit the other girl. But a technicality could land her in jail. Does the fact that the injured Goone is a pretty white girl from the suburbs have anything to do with it? Our criminal justice system is a joke. A young teen's bad decision will ruin her life forever.
