Quinn victory will put state on track
Anyone watching TV lately has seen the Republican National Committee pouring millions upon millions of dollars into anti-Governor Quinn commercials. And I have yet to see any "big money" spent by Quinn or the DNC on his behalf.
The RNC tries to link Quinn to Blagojevich; when in fact they never got along with one another at all, and barely spoke to each other.
The RNC blames Quinn for the Illinois legislature's failure to pass a budget; thus having to borrow more money; when it was actually the Ill. Republicans voting in a bloc along with Ill. Dems in the legislature who failed in their duty and forced Quinn to borrow to try to keep the state functioning.
The RNC derides Quinn for telling the truth to Illinoisans that taxes must be raised. He asked for a 33 percent hike which is actually too low to dig us out of the hole our state is in because of past fiscal irresponsibility by both parties.
If arch conservative Bill Brady is elected, he will also raise taxes. But he will lie to you about it to get elected, Gov. Quinn won't.
I see Gov. Quinn in person at the funerals of Ill. soldiers killed on duty. I see Gov. Quinn at the sites of disasters like tornadoes trying to get help for the now homeless. I see him helping at food drives.
Quinn is a very good governor. If he is defeated, Illinois and its people will be the losers, not Gov. Quinn.
Public schools, police/fire protection, clean water, sewage processing plants, state parks, wildlife management, roads, bridges, Medicare, subsidized housing and orphans are only a few of the things our taxes support.
Maybe if Brady is elected he will choose to just eliminate about half of these, plus let all Illinois prisoners out of our jails to avoid raising taxes.
