Former state trooper charged with child porn

A recently retired Illinois State Police trooper from Glen Ellyn was indicted Friday on charges of possession of child pornography and official misconduct following an investigation into images found on his work computer.

Juan Rodriguez, 50, of 21W569 Kensington Road, was being held at the DuPage County jail in Wheaton in lieu of a $200,000 bond.

DuPage State's Attorney Joe Birkett said Rodriguez was caught up in a Department of Homeland Security Immigration and Customs Enforcement Division child porn distribution investigation. Federal authorities were able to trace access to images containing child pornography back to Rodriguez's "mobile data computer."

Birkett said Rodriguez accessed the images while on duty as a trooper.

Birkett said Rodriguez retired from the state police in March. No other county residents were charged as a result of the federal investigation, officials said.
