Cops: Elgin man grabbed women's backsides

An Elgin man accused of grabbing two women on their rear ends in public was being held Friday on $70,500 bond.

Victor L. Trujillo, 25, of the 400 block of May Street, faces charges of aggravated battery in one case and misdemeanor battery in the other.

Elgin police said Trujillo squeezed a 25-year-old woman's backside at 6:49 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond and Watch streets.

Less than an hour later, at 7:30 p.m., Trujillo lifted up a 25-year-old woman's dress in front of her children at College Street and Franklin Boulevard and squeezed her behind, Deputy Police Chief Cecil Smith said.

Neither woman knew Trujillo, who was arrested Friday, police said.

Kane County Judge Bruce Lester set Trujillo's bond at $20,000 in the first case and at $50,000 in the second.

He also was wanted on a $500 warrant for failing to show up to court on a December littering case.

During his court appearance Friday, Trujillo admitted he had been previously arrested for squeezing yet another woman's buttocks. He later asked the judge why his bond was so high.

"These are two serious crimes against women and the integrity of women that are crimes of a violent and abusive nature," Lester explained, adding that Trujillo, a Mexican citizen, also poses a flight risk.

Trujillo is due back in court June 30 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

If found guilty of aggravated battery, he could spend between two and five years in prison.
