Americans must protect freedoms

Having recently returned from a business trip to Europe I came home with two items in the front of my mind.

First was the number of occasions and amount of time I had to spend in line identifying myself to get back into my home country. If statistics are correct during the 19 hours it took for me to get home thousands of illegal immigrants walked into America through our southern border unchecked. And now that one state has decided to enforce the law the PC crowd is indicating that it is unacceptable to ask someone to identify themselves based on how they look.

I just went through a laborious procedure to achieve readmittance, I found it boring, I found it tested my patience but I did not find it discriminating or demeaning because my common sense told me there are reasons for it. There are reasons we need to check ID at and around our southern borders and the vast majority of potential illegal immigrants in this area are from Mexico.

If we can't concentrate on people who look Hispanic then I am still waiting to hear a logical alternative for dealing with this issue.

There have been many references to President Obama's desire to transform America to a more Euro like socialism. I am always pleased to be able to come home to America and this trip more than ever I was thinking: Why on Earth would we want to be more like what I just saw when in fact we should be striving to head in an opposite direction.

American achievements and our way of life came about because of our freedoms which are second to none. To limit or regulate these freedoms can be called many things but "progressive" is certainly not one of them.
