Give opinions on 2040 plan:Local residents are invited to give their input on a long-range plan to guide growth in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties for the rest of the century. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning will host a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Lake County central permit facility, 500 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville. Public input is being sought in a series of open houses throughout the region through Aug. 6. Visit goto2040.org/haveyoursay/.Tax bill explained:After receiving concerns about the transparency of tax calculations in Lake County, Lake County Clerk Willard Helander has posted an information video explaining how tax bills are calculated and properties are assessed in the county. In the video Helander explains some line items seen on tax bills and terms such as equalized assessed value, home rule, non-home rule and tax caps. The video is available on the clerk's YouTube channel, youtube.com/user/lakecountyclerk, and can also be accessed through the clerk's website, lakecountyil.gov.Miss Antioch Pageant:The new 2010 Miss Antioch will be crowned Saturday night at the Antioch Community High School Auditorium. The pageant will begin at 4 p.m. with the winner receiving scholarship money for the college of her choice. The pageant is for ages 16-21, but there will be a Junior Miss Antioch named for girls aged 11-13 and a Little Miss Antioch for ages 6-8.
