Arlington Heights pizza robber gets boot camp

It may be awhile before an Arlington Heights teen enjoys another Rosati's pizza.

Convicted Wednesday of robbing the restaurant's delivery man of two pizzas last March, Billy Cleveland, of the 700 block of E. Golf Road, will spend at least four months with the Cook County Sheriff's Department, where the cuisine is not as tasty.

In exchange for his guilty plea to the reduced charge of robbery, Cook County Circuit Court Judge John Scotillo sentenced the 18-year-old to boot camp, consisting of 18 weeks of military-style training, counseling, vocational training and educational assistance followed by eight months of supervision upon release. Scotillo also fined Cleveland $650.

On the afternoon of March 20, a Rosati's Pizza employee was making a delivery in the 900 block of E. Shady Way in Arlington Heights, prosecutors said, when the defendant reportedly showed a knife and demanded the pizzas, which the employee surrendered.

No one was hurt. "But for a slice or two," the pizzas were recovered, prosecutors said.
