Fire hosts U.S. Open Cup competition on June 29
The Chicago Fire will host a third-round match of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Toyota Park on June 29, either against the Carolina RailHawks or Charleston Battery.
Tickets for the Fire's match are $15 for all seats and will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. by calling 1-888-MLS-FIRE (657-3473) or at Chicago-Fire.com.
Since 1998, the Fire has racked up an impressive 25-8-2 record in Open Cup play, winning four times: 1998, 2000, 2003 abd 2006.
"The team is looking forward to this match and has its eye on capturing yet another U.S. Open Cup title," said Fire Technical Director Frank Klopas. "We've been fortunate enough to have a very successful run with this Cup over the last twelve years and our players are hungry to bring it back to Chicago."
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, which is recognized as U.S. Soccer's National Championship, is an annual competition open to all amateur and professional soccer teams affiliated with U.S. Soccer. The tournament has crowned a champion for 95 consecutive years dating back to 1914.
