Each of us expected something different from Obama's presidency
Barack Obama was ushered into the presidency of our nation by an overwhelming majority of voters. Undoubtedly, each American casting a vote for Obama, had his or her own expectations for this new president. There were as many personal agendas as their were persons walking into the voting booth.
Now that Obama has been in office for a year and a half, any unfulfilled expectations tend to cause dissatisfaction with how he is managing the office.
On the day he was inaugurated, the problems facing Barack Obama were more numerous and more onerous than those faced by any president in recent memory, and more problems seem to surface every day.
While trying to solve our nation's problems and correct the mistakes of the last decade, he has faced a solid wall of Republican opposition in the Senate.
With the immensity of our nation's problems and the intransigence of his political opposition, it is a tribute to him that he has accomplished as much as he has.
Barack Obama is a good man with nearly impossible and ever increasing tasks before him. We should feel fortunate that someone as talented as he is willing to put himself through such stress and emotional agony for our nation.
While his detractors will probably never give him their support, we who are responsible for putting him into office should give him our support and not be so quick to complain that not everything we expected has been accomplished.
