Bridge Walk a success

The statistics are grim: In the United States, more than half of all men and a third of all women are expected to be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life. Nearly 62,000 Illinois residents are expected to learn of their own cancer diagnosis this year. But if LivingWell's Bridge Walk was any indication, awareness and support of the disease is surging.

Winston Churchill once said, "It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something." That philosophy is shared by LivingWell Cancer Resource Center and its many volunteers and donors. This spirit of generosity was further exemplified May 15 at the fifth annual Bridge Walk. Some 120 teams registered for the event - 1,500 walkers in total - raised more than $240,000 in support of the center, the largest total raised to date!

Our heartfelt thanks to the many volunteers who made the event possible and to the 1,500 people who let their feet do the talking!
