Deerfield man found hanged in jail cell after arrest

A 50-year-old Deerfield man was found hanged in the village police station's jail cell Saturday, Deerfield police officials said.

Rodion Rebitski, of the 1400 block of Waukegan Road, committed suicide in his cell and was discovered by police about 5 a.m., Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Wednesday. Keller could not say what Rebitski used to hang himself.

Rebitski had been arrested on charges of violating an order of protection and resisting arrest Friday night.

His death is being investigated by the Lake County Major Crime Task Force, a Deerfield Police news release stated.

Keller and police officials could not release any more information because of the ongoing investigation.

Toxicology tests are being performed.
