Drivers: Slow down and watch for bikes

I just wanted to tell everyone who drives young and old to slow down.

Please get off the cell phone, quit texting, fixing your hair and watch for the bike riders, runners and walkers.

I was biking last week and twice I had to stop at intersections because the driver did not want to stop correctly. They just stopped in the middle of the intersection. Stopping and waiting for the biker or walker to go past might make you 2 seconds late.

Just stop for that second. Yield to the pedestrian - it's the law. Let's not get anyone hurt on the Rolling Meadows or Palatine roads this summer.

Just pay extra attention to everyone out there who are biking, running and walking. Summer is a great time to get outside and move.

But drivers need to SLOW DOWN NOW!
