Tri-Cities Soccer Association introduces new high school program
Tri-Cities Soccer Association partnered up with Dick's Sporting Goods in Geneva on May 6 for an open house regarding the revamped high school program for Tri-Cities Soccer Association. Dick's was a great host for the event providing a great setting in the soccer section of the store.
More than 40 families attended the event, with the first 20 attendees receiving a $10 gift certificate from Dick's. Families from over seven different area high schools attended the event, including Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles East and St. Charles North, Burlington Central, Kaneland and South Elgin.
The open house was put together to introduce the newest program to Tri-Cities Soccer, which is the Tri-Cities Premier High School program, as well as discuss the future vision of the overall high school program at Tri-Cities. Jeff Durocher, a member of the TCSA board of directors, was ecstatic with the turnout, saying, "The event was a great success. It far exceeded our expectations."
Players and parents got to meet with Vlatko Minic, the new director of the Premier program, and hear his thoughts on the talent pool in the Tri-Cities area as well as his vision for the club. Minic, who will be making the move from club soccer and high school soccer in Wisconsin, was very excited with the response at Dick's.
"What a wonderful welcome to the community. I met many great families who are anxious to join TCSA's new high school program," Minic said. "I can't wait to begin forming the teams of the future at TCSA".
The question and answer session lasted for over 30 minutes, with some questions coming from parents and players alike. Several players and parents stayed after the session to receive more information and discuss in further detail what Minic's ultimate goals are.
At the end of the open house, two winners were announced to receive a TCSA Premier sweatshirt and a TCSA Travel wind shirt. Anna Tegge was the winner of the TCSA Premier sweatshirt and Conner Barnes was the winner of the TCSA Travel wind shirt.
Thanks to Dick's Sporting Goods for hosting such a great event and to all the families who attended.
