Ski team impresses at Pride of the Fox Riverfest
A crowd of more than 100 people hugged the banks of the Fox River in St. Charles, waiting for the Wonder Lake Water Ski Show Team to perform their brand of trickery on the water.
As part of the 28th annual Pride of the Fox Riverfest, the three-time national champion was invited to strut their stuff on the river.
The team, comprised of men and women, showed they weren't threatened by the on-and-off rain showers and dazzled the crowd with a three-level human pyramid, flips, turns and twists off a six-foot high jump and by navigating the choppy waters with a wake board.
And they made it all look so easy.
"That was awesome, huh," Joe Mecklenburg of Cortland said to his 3-year-old son Jakob.
"There's more," Jakob exclaimed, pointing to another water skier.
Joe and Renee Mecklenburg brought their sons Jakob and Tyler, 2, to the show because it was definitely something out of the ordinary for them.
As it is, the two boys already are obsessed with boats and are learning how to swim using water wings.
"They've never seen anyone with those skies and stuff," their father said.
Pride of the Fox Riverfest continues Sunday.
Featured activities include dragon boat racing, a family trivia contest, a Corvette show and live music.
