Kirk's service record is one of great honor
If Mark Kirk were a Democrat, the issue of medals would not be an issue. His opponent for U.S. Senate, Alexi Giannoulias, never served in the military, but managed to grab millions from the family bank. So what can the Daily Herald and the Democratic Party do?
Well, they can pick on a fabricated issue and hope it grows legs. There is a double-standard in this country. Republicans are held to a much higher standard while Democrats are rewarded for good intentions.
The Herald and the Democratic Party have very few people in the military, so they make stuff up to make stuff happen.
Senator John Kerry did not deserve the three purple heart medals, the Herald never mentioned that inconvenient truth. Mark Kirk did not make up medals he did not earn, he earned them and he continues to serve in the Navy as an intelligence officer.
Mark Kirk received the "Rufus Taylor Intelligence Unit of the Year award for outstanding support provided during Operation Allied Force." Please note the "unit of the year," and Mark Kirk led the Intelligence Division Electronic Attack Wing Aviano, Italy making his unit the intelligence unit of the year. He also led the unit, even the Herald said so on May 30.
Kathleen Strand of the scandal-ridden Giannoulias campaign should be ashamed of herself calling Mark Kirk "the worst kind of politician." Has she looked at the fiscal mess in Washington? Has she seen what Obama, Pelosi and Reid are doing to this nation? For the first time in our nation's history we are being destroyed by our own government.
Yet, we are determined to highlight the interpretation of a medal. If you want to investigate, look at the purple hearts of Kerry, or finally demand Obama's school records or the bailout of Broadway Bank owned by the Giannoulias family.
