St. Charles man denies child porn charge

A St. Charles man pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges he possessed child pornography on his computer.

Michael J. Barron, 47, of the 3500 block of Antoine Place, was arraigned in front of Kane County Judge Thomas Mueller on two Class 1 felony counts of possession of child pornography, according to court records.

Barron surrendered in February after a three-month investigation involving the Illinois Attorney General's office led to the seizure of a computer and other equipment from his home.

According to a grand jury indictment, the computer contained two videos of minor girls having sex with adult men, which Barron possessed "with the intent to disseminate or having offered for dissemination."

His attorney, William Fahy, could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday. Barron, who remains free on a $2,500 bond, faces a minimum of four years in prison if convicted, the state's attorney's office said.

His next court date is July 21.
