'Vettes, classics cars part of Riverfest

Why hold only one car show when you can hold two?

Corvettes and "my other cars" will be on display in Pottawatomie Park in conjunction with Pride of the Fox Riverfest.

Both presented by the Chicagoland Corvette Club, the car shows will grace the North Avenue park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, weather permitting.

Applications are still being accepted for both shows, but festival coordinator Julie Farris encouraged signing up before Saturday's "My Other Car Display" for logistic and insurance purposes.

"Individuals looking to participate need to have insurance in order to bring it in, but this is a very, very exciting event that has been a tradition for years past, and the Corvettes that are scheduled to show up are incredible," she said.

The "My Other Car Display" allows individuals who love their car the chance to bring it to the park and exhibit it for other car buffs to admire. Farris said she and event coordinators encourage anyone and everyone to consider bringing their car to the display showcase.

She said years past have exhibited Model-T Fords, Mercedes, and Corvettes, but "we'll take anything."
