Pet show, demonstration at RiverFest

Sit, down, roll over and speak will be some of the many command words ushered on Saturday and Sunday at the Plaza Green in St. Charles.

Returning for the sixth consecutive year, the Canine Capers promises to wow attendees with more canine talent than ever before.

Six shows are planned - noon, 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday - and promise to demonstrate four dog sports, including Frisbee, flyball, agility and Jack Russell racing, as well as various tricks and stunts.

Julie Farris, festival coordinator, said participants range from active dog club members to professional canine entertainers, with the dogs themselves being of notable fame, both in newspapers and on television.

In between shows, festival attendees will have the opportunity to speak to top area trainers about training tips and locations for finding the perfect dog as an addition to the family.

Bones, toys, treats and cleaning supplies, as well as an assortment of various pet care products will be available at the Pet Boutique.
