Sheriff promotes two officers:McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren has promoted Sgt. James Popovits to lieutenant. Starting June 20, Popovits will head the Criminal Investigations Bureau. Popovits replaces former investigations chief Andrew Zinke, who became undersheriff in April. Det. Robb Tadelman will be promoted to sergeant. He will serve in the patrol division.Road closurein Dundee Twp.:The Dundee Township Highway Department will close Skyline Drive from Deer Path to Lake Shore Drive starting today for replacement of a culvert pipe. Alternate routes will be Williams Road to Kings Road or Route 25 to Kings Road. As many as 350,000 acres in McHenry County and Walworth County, Wis., will be considered for inclusion in the refuge. The area under consideration is home to many rare plant and animal species. The presentation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 13.
