Moline rally sinks Downers South
Moline 8, Downers Grove South 5: Olivia Aten's 2-run homer capped off a 6-run Maroons top of the seventh at the Class 4A supersectional at Illinois State University.
Downers Grove South (30-7) led 4-2 going into the seventh, but Kaitlyn Knary's 2-run triple tied it and Brittny Drish doubled in the go-ahead run before Aten's homer.
Emma Topps leadoff homer in the bottom of the seventh, her second of the game, pulled the Mustangs within 8-5. But Moline pitcher Jordan Kasbohm struck out Downers Grove South cleanup hitter Katy LaCivita with two runners on to end it.
Topps' 3-run homer in the fourth staked Downers Grove South to a 4-1 lead. Danielle Trezzo also went deep for the Mustangs.
