Lythberg central to Central's softball success
Former Prospect High School pitcher Kiley Lythberg has received the LeRoy Timmer Most Valuable Player Award from the Central College (Iowa) softball team.
Lythberg helped lead Central to a 30-14 record and the program's 22nd NCAA Division III tournament appearance.
Lythberg posted a 19-9 record with a 2.47 earned run average. She walked 55 batters and struck out 114 in 155.2 innings.
Lythberg is a two-time second-team all-Iowa Conference pick and was a third-team NFCA Division III all-Midwest Region selection after being a first-team choice a year ago.
Lythberg was named a co-captain for the 2010-11 Central squad.
Men's soccerKyle Held, who stopped many a shot for Palatine soccer coach Willie Filian, will continue to do that for Saint Xavier University.The senior goalkeeper has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career as a member of the Cougars' men's soccer program.
