Wheeling restaurant adds nightly live jazz music

The Wheeling Village Board has approved plans for a local cafe to add live jazz music.

The Jazz Cafe recently opened in the Creekside Plaza Shopping Center, at McHenry and Elmhurst roads. It has a maximum of 65 seats with an outdoor dining area and is open until 11 p.m. during the week and until midnight on weekends.

The plan for live entertainment was backed by the village's plan commission on May 13. The village board unanimously approved the idea on Monday.

"There will be up to four musicians 10 nights a month," said Mark Janeck, director of community development.

According to a village memo, the musicians will be inaudible outdoors except though speakers. Those speakers will be turned off at 10 p.m. each night.
