Man charged with killing Plainfield teacher found dead in apartment
A man charged with killing a Plainfield High School teacher Friday was found dead in his Yorkville apartment late Sunday night.
Jeffery J. Weiten, 31, of the 300 block of Mulhern Court, was found dead following a well being check by Yorkville Police just before 9 p.m., police officials said in a news release Tuesday.
Relatives had not heard from Weiten since he bonded out of Kendall County Correction Center on Saturday morning, after he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police officials said Weiten was charged with DUI after a Friday evening accident at the corner of routes 47 and 34 that killed Julie R. Allen, 54, of Yorkville.
Yorkville officers found Weiten dead in his apartment with self-inflicted wounds.
