Hats should come off as flag goes by
Today's parade was excellent, even with the rain interruptions. But, once again, I saw too many men (and women) who did not remove their hats when the American flag passed by, who did not even get up from their lawn chairs to show their respect for our flag and our servicemen and women.
I realize that current fashion is that men wear their ball caps in their homes, in restaurants and everywhere they go, probably including bed. But to remove the hat and stand up in respect for those who serve and who served our country and our flag, is that so difficult to do?
One more complaint/suggestion: Let's put the political candidates and their cheering gangs at the end of the parade. Our local elected officials should stay up front, the military and veteran's groups, our super high school marching bands, the myriad Scout and YMCA children's groups and our local service organizations should all precede the electioneering squads who should bring up the rear.
But, these are just my opinions.
