Quinn calls Kirk's embellishments 'disappointing'
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn says it's "disappointing" Republican Senate candidate Mark Kirk embellished his military record.
A Democrat, Quinn said Monday any inaccuracies must be corrected and Kirk should apologize for them.
Kirk recently acknowledged exaggerating parts of his service in the U.S. Naval Reserves, including claiming a prestigious award he didn't get. Kirk apologized while talking to reporters last week.
Quinn says anyone who serves in the military deserves "high honor," but he said veterans must portray their service "exactly as it is."
