Group's work should inspire residents

Myself and fellow local taxpayer watchdogs have been trying for over 5 years now to convince the Grayslake District 46 school board to post their check journals and other documents online. We have even given them detailed instructions on how they could accomplish this without costs. Now, thanks to assistance from Americans For Prosperity, we have finally achieved a breakthrough. The District 46 school board has agreed to provide the transparency the taxpayers deserve.

I would like to publicly thank the leaders and volunteers of Americans For Prosperity for their efforts. After receiving a request to help us, they quickly organized training and set in motion a strategy that broke through the resistance of the school board and resulted in a victory for District 46 residents.

Now that District 46 has embraced transparency, I encourage concerned citizens in other districts to demand the same openness from their school boards and local governments. Americans For Prosperity stands ready to help.
