Three hurt in head-on collision
Three people were injured - one of them seriously - in a head-on collision in Batavia Saturday night, authorities said.
Batavia Fire Lt. Ralph Strange said all three males were transported to Mercy Provena Hospital in Aurora.
One man, the driver of a sedan, had to be extricated after rescue personnel were called to Route 25 and Bond Street at 7:34 p.m., Strange said.
"It was a tough extrication due to the damage to the vehicle," he said.
The two men with minor injuries were riding in a GMC Denali with two other male passengers, who were not hurt, Strange said.
Both the sedan and Denali had heavy front-end damage, Strange said.
The Kane County sheriff's office is handling the investigation into the accident. Details from that office were not immediately available.
The area where the crash occurred is a two-lane stretch south of downtown and east of the Fox River.
Batavia sent an ambulance and two fire engines to the scene; North Aurora also sent an ambulance and fire truck.
