Moose land plan hearing is Wednesday in Batavia
The Batavia Plan Commission will begin a public hearing Wednesday on whether to change the city's comprehensive land use plan so Moose International could build apartments, stores, a hotel and restaurants on the western half of its Mooseheart school property.
The hearing begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Batavia Government Center, 100 N. Island Ave.
Mooseheart, a private residential school run by the Moose International fraternity, proposes to be annexed by the city so it could get water, sewer and electricity for the proposed developments. The area in question is 431 acres, mostly on the east side of Randall Road, between Main Street and Mooseheart Road. Much of it is farmland.
The current comprehensive plan calls for general commercial, public facilities and institutional uses on the site. Moose International wants that changed to general commercial, parks, mixed use and residential.
A memo and map of Moose International's proposal is available at cityofbatavia.net/content/articlefiles/6661-CDC%20Moose%20Annex%20Auth.pdf.
