Rosters set for Dave Fehlman Memorial All-Star Game

The Seventh Annual Dave Fehlman Memorial Senior All-Star game will be played Monday, June 14 at Judson University. Game time is 6 p.m. and admission is free. The game is being held at Judson for the first time after the Fox Valley Renegades travel softball organization dropped its sponsorship of the event. The first six all-star games were played at Jockey Field in East Dundee.

The game is sponsored by the Northern Illinois Lightning, Feeny Autos, Fox Valley Sports Academy, Scheffler Electric and Judson, and supported by the Daily Herald, with organizers seeking additional sponsors to help defray the cost and keep the event admission-free.

St. Charles North's April Stary will coach the South team this year, and Cary-Grove coach Tammy Olson will lead the North squad. Players are invited to participate in the game from 20 Fox Valley area high schools.

The South holds a 3-1 edge in the series and there have been two ties. The North won last year's game 8-5 when Emily Mahoney of Crystal Lake South and Rachael Anello of Bartlett were the MVPs.

The players invited to play for the North squad this year include Kelsey Lodge and Ashley Frey of Larkin; Brandi Hernandez, Jenna Jaynes and Kelly Patchett of Elgin; Tori Maule and Vicki Pyan of Crystal Lake South; Colette Roth, Amy Palminteri and Abbe Wienckowski of Cary-Grove; Kristina Brockner, Kristi Knott and Bre Medinger of St. Edward; Amanda Wisniewski, Arianna Albanese and Jenna Mychko of Huntley; Sam Gruner, Ashley Scheffler and Jet Kein of Burlington Central; Johanna Turner and Anna Patras of Prairie Ridge; and Mary Bruscato of Hampshire.

The South team will include Lauren Chuchvara, Callie Dennison and Megan Morales of Bartlett; Mary Kate Brooks, Steph Roan, Jenny Niemiec and Kayla Brooks of St. Charles East; Carly Willert, Kelly Mieszala, Samantha Becker and Angie Bates of Lake Park; Caitlin Stredde, Courtney Bosteder and Rae Bosteder of South Elgin; Jordan Hester and Brittany Davis of Kaneland; Amanda Engel and Kristin Damm of St. Charles North; and Kristyn Ruitenberg and Stacey Cladis of Geneva.

The game is dedicated to the memory of Dave Fehlman, who passed away in 2007. Fehlman was a past president of the Fox Valley Renegades and staunch supporter of high school and travel softball. His daughter, Lissa, is a St. Edward graduate and a former Renegades and Lightning player who went on to play at Evansville University.
