More government not the answer

This letter is a response to the letter a longtime Michael Noland financial supporter submitted recently. Residents of the Fox Valley and Illinois have been poorly served by the attitude that more government and more taxes are an appropriate role of government.

According to a survey of 641 CEOs across the country, Illinois ranks near the bottom in economic opportunity, 46th to be exact. Illinois is a state with high taxes, illogical regulations and layer upon layer of corruption and cronyism. Michael Noland, Pat Quinn, Michael Madigan, John Dalton, and Keith Farnham's answer is always more taxes, more regulation, and less transparency.

Noland's tax bill 174 proposes to raise personal and business taxes 66 percent, which is double what Pat Quinn is asking for. Businesses and taxpayers are already fleeing Illinois for states like Indiana with better business environments.

Here in Illinois foreclosures are up another 38 percent and unemployment is trending worse than the national average, now with 765,000 Illinoisans actively looking for work.

Clearly, higher taxes are not the answer. The answer is for voters and taxpayers to sweep these people out of office. Now is the time to rid our state of this waste, corruption and mismanagement forever.
