More rabid bats found:
The McHenry County Department of Health has confirmed the discovery of a second and third rabid bat in the county this year - both in Woodstock. One resident is undergoing rabies preventive treatment. The health department advises that if you find a bat in your home, do not release it. Rather, contain it in a room, under a bucket or blanket and keep people away from it. Then call McHenry County Animal Control immediately at (815-459-6222). A rabies fact sheet is available at idph.state.il.us/public/hb/hbrabies.htm.
Haiti relief continues:
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Elgin is still working to help survivors of the deadly January earthquake in Haiti. From June 13 to June 25, the church will open its Nesler Road campus at 195 Nesler Road for drop-offs of clean clothes, children's shoes, sandals, tools, food, basic medical supplies and more.
