With teachers, you get what you pay for

I just can't hold my tongue any longer. The thought that we are paying our teachers too much money is just astounding to me. Teachers are the ones responsible for our kids during the day. Teachers are the ones educating our kids.

Don't we want the best of the best educating our children?

I don't understand the thought behind paying our teachers less. Being an educator should be highly respected and highly rewarded for the important job they have of being responsible for our children during the day.

Not only is it important for our kids' future to have highly qualified and gifted teachers, but also for our neighborhoods. We all know the value of our home greatly depends on the school district of which it is in.

For all of you complaining about your taxes going to overpaid teachers I ask, don't you want the best for your children? Don't you want the best for your neighborhood?

Lastly, Ms. Sharon Miller, do you seriously think that all the kids in the after school day care programs are there because the parents "work to pay the taxes to pay the teachers?" We all know that it is a lifestyle choice for many.

Do you know the responsibility these teachers are given these days? Do you know the time they put in into educating, teaching, and growing our children? They could have chosen to join the business world that has higher salaries and bonuses, but they chose to work with our children.

We want the best of the best leading our companies and we are willing to pay big salaries to do so. Well, I am willing to do the same for the most important thing to me - my kids.
