When does Biggert hate bailouts?

"It's agreed. Taxpayers hate the bailouts. So do I, and so do most of my colleagues." said U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert in the May 6 Daily Herald. But then why did she vote for the $700 billion bailout for our country's largest financial institutions?

Here is how the Daily Herald reported it on Oct. 3, 2008: "One suburban Republican in Congress switched sides Friday to vote for the latest version of the $700 billion bailout measure, helping to send one of the largest rescue plans in history to President George Bush's desk. 'If we don't act now those who are least to blame for this mess will suffer most,' U.S. Rep. Judy Biggert said on the House floor in supporting the bailout Friday."

Sorry, Rep. Biggert, but those bailout billions went to the giant, "too big to fail," banks. Foreclosed homeowners and our neighborhood banks are left to fend for themselves. Could the fact that you have taken almost $1 million in campaign contributions from the financial services industry during your career in Congress have anything to do with your support for their bailout?
