Geneva Green Market plans opening day festivities

Geneva Green Market will start its fourth season on Thursday, June 3 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and continues every Thursday through Oct. 28 at 75 N. River Lane. Leading Geneva Green Market, this season's new president is localvore, community leader and co-owner of Inglenook Pantry, Connie Weaver.

Visitors are invited to attend opening day and enjoy a food demonstration by local chef favorite, Matt Lennert, owner of Moveable Feast in Geneva.

This season the family-focused early childhood education program "Kid's Corner" will be joined by Delnor Hospital's Community Health and Outreach Department and the Fit4Kane coalition workgroups. Information about volunteering at "Kid's Corner" is available at delnor.com/kidscorner.

Weaver says the partnership will help youth understand more about local food and nutrition. Nearly 19 vendors will be on hand throughout the season. Most vendors from last year will be returning, and some new vendors will round out the mix of locally created, grown and produced foods from within 200 miles of the market.
