Sims Recycling Solutions and Golf Mill Shopping Center in Niles are hosting an e-waste recycling event 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12. People may bring up to 10 electronic items per individual and/or unwanted clothing or gently used furniture. The clothing and furniture will be donated to the Women In Need Growing Stronger (WINGS). "This event displays our commitment in helping the local area communities become more environmentally conscious" said Verdico, marketing manager for the mall, in a news release. "Illinois residents have more options than ever to responsibly reuse and recycle used electronics and we hope this event helps send the message that no computer should go to waste. This is the 2nd annual event held at the Golf Mill Shopping Center and we have already assisted in diverting 19,000 lbs from entering the landfill."

Sims Recycling Solutions will accept the following electronics for recycling: computers, monitors, televisions, printers, cell phones, computer cables, keyboards/mice, fax machines, MP3 players, PDA's, video game consoles, VCRs/DVD players, zip drives, and scanners.
