Lincolnshire standoff ends peacefully

A police standoff in Lincolnshire ended peacefully Monday night, four hours after a man barricaded himself inside a house, authorities said.

The incident occurred on the 0-100 block of Sheffield Court. No one was hurt.

The standoff began about 5:30 p.m. after police went to the house because of a domestic disturbance, Lincolnshire police investigator Adam Hyde said. The fight involved a father and his grown son, Hyde said.

When the son barricaded himself in the house, police called the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System emergency response team to the neighborhood. Police later determined the son was not armed.

The son surrendered voluntarily to police about 9:30 p.m. He later was taken to a hospital for observation, police said.

No charges have been filed. The matter is under investigation.
