DuPage forest preserve president's salary frozen

The DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission voted unanimously today to freeze the salary for the president's post next year.

Current president Dewey Pierotti is facing an election challenge in November from Democratic newcomer Dennis Clark. Whoever wins the election will receive a salary of $107,899 beginning in December, the same as Pierotti is receiving now. Pierotti has been the forest preserve president since the agency split from the county board in 2002.

The board also approved 2 percent raises for the post in the following three years, which will eventually increase the position's pay to $114,503 in December 2013.

Two years ago, the commission approved annual 2 percent raises for board members for through 2012. Annual pay for the six commissioner seats will increase to $55,254 in December.

Also, all non-union forest preserve employees did not receive raises this year.
