Quinn signs measure to delay foreclosures
SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation to help members of the military keep their homes from foreclosure.
The measure was signed Saturday and goes into effect in January.
It was supported by members of the Illinois House and Senate.
The new law grants a 90-day delay in foreclosure proceedings for active-duty military members.
Those who are eligible for the extension will need to apply in writing.
Quinn says law ensures members of the military are supported while they're on active duty away from their homes.
