Bulls Watch Day 25
Here's a glance at some of the latest developments as the Bulls search for a new coach and prepare to court top free agents:
Thibodeau on hold: The Bulls decided not to try and interview Boston assistant Tom Thibodeau during the break before the NBA Finals begins, but he remains a strong candidate for their head coaching job. There were signs general manager Gar Forman might visit Boston now that the Celtics eliminated Orlando in the Eastern Conference finals, but he did not make the trip.
Thibodeau is thought to be the top candidate for the New Orleans job and could also interview for New Jersey's opening, but he can't make any decision until the Finals are over. The Bulls have no formal interviews scheduled.
Falk speaks out: Not sure how relevant David Falk is to the NBA these days, but Michael Jordan's agent told SI.com that LeBron James should avoid Chicago like a Cleveland vacationer.
"He should not play in Chicago. He will always compete with Michael Jordan," Falk said. "He should not play in L.A. He will always compete with Kobe Bryant. LeBron needs his own identity. The worst place in the world for LeBron to go is Chicago."
Rose on Coach Cal: During an autograph appearance in Skokie on Saturday, Derrick Rose recommended his college coach at Memphis, John Calipari, stay at Kentucky. Bulls Watch has maintained all along Calipari is not and will not be a candidate for the Bulls' job.
"No, he's a good fit (at Kentucky)," Rose said, according to ESPN.com. "I don't think he should leave. He could start his legacy there, so I don't see why he would leave."
